Pavlo Makov (b. 1958) is a Ukrainian graphic-artist. Studied at the Riepin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture in Leningrad (1977-1978). Graduated from the Samokysh Crimean Art College (1979), the Faculty of Graphics of the Kharkiv Art and Industry Institute (1984). Member of the National Association of Artists of Ukraine (1988). Member of the Royal Society of Painters and Graphic Artists of Great Britain (1994). Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2006). Awarded prestigious international prizes, including the Grand Prix of the First All-Union Exhibition of Graphic Arts (1990, Kaliningrad), Special Prize of the Triennale-94 (Osaka, Japan), Silver prize in “Ibizagraphic’94” (Ibiza, Spain), Grand Prix of the International Exhibition of Graphics and Posters “4 Block” (Kharkiv, 1994), the prize of the Hungarian Association of Artists “Master of Graphics” (2001) and others. Took part in more than 70 exhibitions. Solo exhibitions were held in Ukraine and abroad. His works are kept in the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), the Corcoran Gallery of Art (Washington, DC), the Metropolitan Museum (New York), the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the State Tretyakov Gallery and the Pushkin State Museum of Art in Moscow, other museums and private collections. Pavlo Makov is representing Ukraine at the 59th Venice Biennale with the artistic project “Fountain of Exhaustion. High Water”.
