Pavlo Bedzir (1926-2002) was a Ukrainian graphic artist and painter, one of the leaders of the artistic avant-garde of the “sixties” in Transcarpathia. He worked in monotype and grattage techniques. He was friends with Leopold Levytsky, Alla Horska, Serhiy Parajanov, Tetyana Yablonska, Heorhiy Yakutovych, Hryhoriy Ostrovsky. He was married to the artist Elizaveta Bedzir-Kremnytska. Pavlo Bedzir began his career in fine art with realistic painting and drawing, but over time moved to graphic symbolism. The most famous and longest series of the artist’s works, which identifies him as an outstanding master of the graphic art of Transcarpathia and Ukraine, was the cycle of works entitled “From the Life of Trees”.
