BORIS KOSAREV EXHIBITION IN NEW YORK CITY AT THE UKRAINIAN MUSEUM

On 4 December the UkrainianMuseum in New York unveiled an exhibition “Boris Kosarev. The Kharkiv Modernism of 1915-1931”.

Out of the 83 works of the famous artist who excelled both in cubism and in constructivism, -  and who placed himself on record as a scenic designer and was big on photography,  - the greatest and most important part are represented by the paintings from the collection of the artist's daughter Nadiya Kosareva.

The exposition features an expressive "melancholic" Self-Portrait of the artist, suprematic still lives and landscapes, neo primitivism, sketch paintings of the assembly hall of the Odessa Provincial Military Enlistment Office, sketches and covers of books and magazines, cubistic experiments and constructivist graphics. In Kosarev’s works the color and the line, the time and the city are equally meaningful.
