II Art History Contest for Art Critics

Stedley Art Foundation is pleased to announce II Art History Contest for Art Critics.

The Contest is a chance for young gifted intellectuals to demonstrate their independent opinions and analysis. It is a chance for those you strive for the most subtle accuracy in translating the visual into verbal. It is a chance for witty interpreters and bright perfectionists.

The Contests aims to introduce new names into contemporary art criticism, to tune communication between young critics and established journals or Internet-resources.

Age: under 28

Topic: ‘Contemporary vs. Traditional Art’

Task: to provide an article, essay or review on the topic up to 10 printed pages long.



At the I stage the best works will be chosen and the leading editors of the art-related media will hold master-classes for the finalists of the Contest in the course of 2 days.

The papers must  be submitted by 20 August.

At the II stage the finalists amend their text pursuant to the received knowledge and advice and resubmit the final variant of their paper by 15 October.

The results of the Contests as well as the award ceremony will be held in mid-November at the National Art Museum of Ukraine.

* All papers will be encoded when submitted to the members of the jury.

I place – art-trip to Italy

II place – 5000 UAH

III place – art books for 3000 UAH in total from Rodovid publishing house.

* The organisers of the Contest, partners and members of the jury reserve the right to provide other recognition prizes (pursuant to the organising committee approval).
